MOON OVER GIN RIDGE

11.5 x 30" acrylic on linen SOLD

This has been sitting a while. I took it so far and then backed off for a while. I finally fiddled with it again and called it finished. It's from a photo by a friend of mine, Jim Furnish, of the beach dunes in front of our little town Gearhart Oregon. The moon rising as the sun sets is a unique lighting situation.

PACIFIC WAY BAKERY

6x8" acrylic on gessoboard...$100SOLD
CLICK TO BUY

This place is a landmark in Gearhart Oregon. A cafe/bakery run by a couple of friends of ours. Fantastic food and dripping with atmosphere. Actually there is a great hand painted sign on this window but I decided not to try to get all that in the painting. The sign was painted by another old friend of ours Mike Russo. He is an old  sign painter and taught me a lot of tricks. Mike is the son of two very well known artists  SALLY HALEY and MICHAEL RUSSO. Both legends in their own time.

This is the last one from the Portland art musem. There was a good Ellsworth Kelly exhibit. Probably around 50 pieces. They are all Lithographs and super colorful. I wish they had been a little larger for my purposes though. This was one of the biggest in the show. I thought the model was especially nice!

BELL BUOY CRAB CO.

8x6" acrylic on gessoboard SOLD
CLICK TO BID

Signs are cool! This one is a classic neon from my hometown Seaside Oregon. Been in business since 1949. Most local commercial clammers sell their clams here. You can get anything locally caught right here. If you're driving the coast highway you can't miss it. Rather than put a flat price on it, I thought I'd see how much people will bid for this on the Daily Paintworks auction page. If you've never bid on a painting this is where to go. Just click on the link.

ARROW 2 UP CLOSE 22x30"

ARROW 2  REFLECTIONS 18x24"SOLD

I finally finished the last 2 of 6 homages to the old pilot tug Arrow no. 2. She is being replaced by a new, just built, all steel tug. These last two are of the Arrow at dock in front of the Brix Marine office in Astoria Oregon. Used to be Foss marine(or do I have that backwards?) No matter. She's a beautiful old working tug with lots of stories and scars. As of the last visit to the docks she was still there alongside the new tug so maybe they will continue to use her for a while.
