I liked doing these last two. What's not to like about old VW vans? They have a smiling face and come in fun colors too. The ultimate surf wagon! So I have put this one in the DAILY PAINTWORKS giveaway. That means it will be given away in a drawing on August 17th. To be eligible  for the drawing you need to have bought a painting through  daily paintworks in the 30 days prior to the drawing. What do I get? I get a weeks worth of promotion through their website and facebook page. A fair trade i think.

Good Company (reworked)

I couldn't keep my paws off of this one..It wasn't right...so I reworked it a little. I like it much better now. The first version is below. Maybe you can see what changes I made.

At the end of the rainbow

this rainbow ended right at the foot of our beach trail. must be a good sign!

Good Company

Some use shovels..some use a clam gun. Some carry the lantern while some just do the digging. There's nothing like trying to spot a hole the size of a dime by lamp light.

seals on the beach

 For some reason there have been quite a few seals and sealions beached lately in front of our house. The bald eagles got  one and the gulls got another just this morning. Reminded me that I did this digital image on the computer for a book a while back. It's titled  Seal Pup.

My son the surfer got sorta pumped when he saw this one. He has quite a collection of these..the tools of his trade.

more clammers. I don't ususally pay much attention to these scenes when I'm digging..too focused on looking for clam holes. But it is beautiful down there just before the sun comes up isn't it?

Terrible Tilly

O.K.! So I haven't posted any new work for a week. That's because I'm not painting much. I've been snooping around trying to find some good photos of the old lighthouse just offshore. I always wanted to paint it. An old fisherman friend gave me these showing the rock from his boat on a very calm day.  The Oregon shore is in the background on the 1st one. The color is so drab that it doesn't do much for me though.

This is my goal..to be old and comical but most of all to be free to lay in the sun like an old dog. I might  even take to wearing a watch like this old coot just to be able to see how long I've been cooking.

Two Drifters

Can't resist a nice looking row boat. This is oil on linen....30x21. I paint in acrylics mostly . After doing this in oil I remember why ..Oil paint has a way of getting everywhere. My hands, my face, my hair,  my stool, seat of my pants, bottom of my shoes, tracked into the house! and takes forever to dry. This is supposed to go to a gallery on Saturday but I don't think it will be dry in time.
