The Earnest

acrylic on canvas 24x28"
$1500

I happened to catch this working tug tied up at a seafood market about a week ago in Astoria. Snapped a couple shots and though it was taken with my  son's cell phone,  I had enough to go on. This is done mainly with the palette knife. I like doing it that way. Keeps me from getting too bogged down in details and I can just go for it.

  1. I like the edges on the tug's square windows. Found your link on Karin Jurick's Blog.

  2. Hi there,
Another person who followed you from Karin's blog.
You have some wonderful edges and some wonderful light in this painting. The composition is none-too-shabby either!

  3. Thanks for the kind comments fellow Karin Jurick fans. She's got such a confident touch!
I'm starting another painting of a tug. This one is docked right next to the former ferry terminal in Astoria Oregon and carries the pilots to and from cargo ships as they navigate the Columbia river bar.
    I'll post it when finished.
