6x8" acrylic on masonite
$100 SOLD
I did this as an entry in DAILY PAINTWORKS challenge http://www.dailypaintworks.com/
The challenge is to only spend 10 minutes on each of the figures. That's tough. You gotta have everything ready, move quick and resist the impulse to rework things.
Chickadees are really energetic little guys so this is appropriate.
by the way... I find that many people don't know what acrylic paint is when it comes to art. Some may think acrylic is like water color. Not at all! Artists acrylics are exactly like oil paints. They both are about the same texture and brush about the same. The artist can lay it on heavy with brush marks or put it on in thin layers. The difference is acrylics dry very fast whereas oils dry very slowly. This painting was dry in about 3 hours while oils would take days. I like acrylics for that reason but also they clean up with water as opposed to mineral spirits.... much less toxic.
Hi Brian,I must say yours is my favourite entry in the challenge. These quick paintings really portray the energy of these sweet little birds, the brushstrokes are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks lots Azra. I found it hard to not go over the 10 minutes each especially when the acrylic started to dry and change . It becomes less vibrant as it dries so it needs to be touched up as you go. Still I sorta liked hoe it came out.
ReplyDeleteI had to do these from photos since the little guys are so busy. They never just sit still.
