ONE OAR

18x24" acrylic on linen
And yet another boat. What can I say...I like 'em. Clients like 'em. Believe it or not it's somewhat of a challenge to make water look right. And the lines of a boat are tricky. Curves extending away from the eye toward the vanishing point.Available at Primary Elements Gallery in Cannon Beach or. www.primaryelementsgallery.com

PRAM

22x30"acrylic on linen....$1600
Here's another larger piece I've been working on. Couldn't come up with a catchy title this time.  Most of these larger ones are all palette knife. Much more fun for me that way. Maybe it's the sculptor in me that likes to move the thicker paint around with a blade. I like the spontaneity that comes with broad strokes. And the inability to do minute detail with a big blade helps keep it loose as opposed to overworked.

ARROW 2 UP CLOSE 22x30"

ARROW 2  REFLECTIONS 18x24"SOLD

I finally finished the last 2 of 6 homages to the old pilot tug Arrow no. 2. She is being replaced by a new, just built, all steel tug. These last two are of the Arrow at dock in front of the Brix Marine office in Astoria Oregon. Used to be Foss marine(or do I have that backwards?) No matter. She's a beautiful old working tug with lots of stories and scars. As of the last visit to the docks she was still there alongside the new tug so maybe they will continue to use her for a while.

SURFIN' SAFARI

6x6" acrylic on gessoboard......................SOLD
I liked doing these last two. What's not to like about old VW vans? They have a smiling face and come in fun colors too. The ultimate surf wagon! So I have put this one in the DAILY PAINTWORKS giveaway. That means it will be given away in a drawing on August 17th. To be eligible  for the drawing you need to have bought a painting through  daily paintworks in the 30 days prior to the drawing. What do I get? I get a weeks worth of promotion through their website and facebook page. A fair trade i think.

AT THE MARINA

8" x 10" acrylic on gessoboard.........$100 SOLD

I used a photo taken by Jim Furnish that inspired me for this one. I took a little artistic license, as always....Below is how it looks in a frame. I'm thinking of offering my daily paintings framed or unframed...not sure I want to go into the framing business ....it's so much like work....so it's just a thought right now.

Good Company (reworked)

I couldn't keep my paws off of this one..It wasn't right...so I reworked it a little. I like it much better now. The first version is below. Maybe you can see what changes I made.

Good Company

Some use shovels..some use a clam gun. Some carry the lantern while some just do the digging. There's nothing like trying to spot a hole the size of a dime by lamp light.

seals on the beach

For some reason there have been quite a few seals and sealions beached lately in front of our house. The bald eagles got  one and the gulls got another just this morning. Reminded me that I did this digital image on the computer for a book a while back. It's titled  Seal Pup.

My son the surfer got sorta pumped when he saw this one. He has quite a collection of these..the tools of his trade.

Dawn Patrol

more clammers. I don't ususally pay much attention to these scenes when I'm digging..too focused on looking for clam holes. But it is beautiful down there just before the sun comes up isn't it?

Golden Brown

This is my goal..to be old and comical but most of all to be free to lay in the sun like an old dog. I might  even take to wearing a watch like this old coot just to be able to see how long I've been cooking.

Deep Blue

This is pretty large 48x48. acrylic on canvas.I was not completely satisfied with it but got frustrated with reworking it again and again so made myself stop and I gave it to a gallery to hang. When I saw it hung I realized I like it a lot and I'm glad I stopped. It has a lot of punch. Strong colors..
