I just dropped this and 5 other little old car paintings off at the RIVERSEA GALLERY  in Astoria Oregon.
I'm getting the surf bug! This old model A panel is what I think of when I talk about surfwagons. It would have only been around 20-some years old when I was a kid in the '50's.!!

This is going to the Riversea gallery in Astoria Oregon. I'm doing these a little larger than my normal daily paintings and painting them on cradled panels so they have a 2 inch thick edge and are ready to hang.

Here's another view of the same crow. Couldn't get him to turn around. Lots of reflected color in a black bird. Makes me have to really look closely to see what's going on.

This has been in the studio for a while now and I think I might just leave it alone. I was going to take it farther along but why? It catches what I was after.

Look at these two beauties! Once again I have to say chickens always remind me of my grandmother. She had chickens on everything from aprons to coffee cups. And somehow looked a little like a hen herself...in a good way!  This is a good  example of high key as opposed to low key. The contrast makes things really pop. Not just the contrast in darks and lights but the cools and warms too.

Our famous pilot tug the Arrow  no.2 is being retired soon. She operates out of Astoria  for Foss Marine and is responsible for picking up and dropping off pilots when the big tankers and container vessels come over the Columbia river bar. Been doing the job for a long time but  they've built a new one to take over for the old gal. I doubt the new tug will be nearly as photogenic so I wanted to do some paintings to commemorate the passing. This is the Arrow 2 hooking up with the Ammon Ace.
